Working out of the home often means juggling multiple tasks and wearing many hats. But look out. When there is so much to do that there is little time left over for sales and marketing activity, sales can dry up and often do. Here are some ways to avoid that.
1. Monthly Focus - Each month, grab your calendar and see which holidays are coming up. Then focus some type of activity around them. At least minimally, setup a direct mail campaign through the U.S. Post Office site (usps.com) in these quick steps:
Choose one of their postcards.
With their online tools, edit the back with a quick note, sale of some type & referral request.
Load an Excel document of addresses, pay and send.
2. Ad Campaign - Plan ahead with advertising representatives by gathering their media kits and asking about special deals or rates they may have for you. Then follow up and plan a 12- to 16-month campaign, even if it's just a small classified that runs regularly. That way you'll always be covered whether you're too busy to care or not. You can always supplement with cross-promotional pieces. But at least, set up a foundation to get you through the year.
For inexpensive ads to run throughout the year, check out neighborhood newspapers and free or cheap magazines and papers that are placed inside public libraries, large grocery stores and country-type restaurants. PennySavers and Thrifty Ads are other sources.
3. Regular Income Stream - Don't just have all large projects. Set up a few (or several, depending upon your budget needs) smaller, regular income-producing projects to generate weekly / monthly income. And maintain a steady flow as much as possible. In other words, if five regular, smaller jobs pay the day-to-day bills, once one of them quits or runs out of work for you, replace it as soon as possible so that you maintain your steady 'five' as much as possible.
Some people setup affiliate programs in this manner; selling something for someone else and earning a percentage or profit for selling. They target so much income from one source of revenue stream to cover a certain portion of expenses. And if this runs out of steam, they beef up promotions or switch to another affiliate program. Learn more about affiliate options from a place like Commission Junction (cj.com). Or in your favorite search engine, type in 'affiliate programs' and see which ones are popular.
So when you juggle, remember to mix in SOME type of regular sales and income generating opportunities. You don't drop the ball!

If you've ever heard of Network Marketing, you've probably heard it said that it is essentially a people's business. Some have also labelled it a people's franchise because of the similarities between the business models of network marketing and franchising. Advocates of the industry name it as the ultimate people's business and say there is nothing quite like it.
Of course people that are in network marketing will immediately respond positively to this whereas those that are not familiar with the industry, or have had some bad experiences might be strongly opposed to this idea. One of the unique characteristics of this type of business is that every individual distributor is in business for themselves but never by themselves. They will always be part of a larger organization and the compensation models are designed in such a way that every person can count on some form of support from their upline.
It is no secret that fortunes can be made in this type of business and many have done just that. Of course this is not the majority of network marketers, but every individual distributor does have the same chances. Success or failure in network marketing is not dictated by politics, race, age, background or gender, but always by results. In that respect it is probably also the fairest business model in the world.
For many people however the true value of their home based business is not directly in the financial return. The lessons a person can learn while building his or her own network marketing business are truly priceless. Many people are totally transformed through the personal growth they experience as a direct result of their challenges in their MLM businesses. It forced them to get out of their comfort zones, grow, and in many cases become a better person.
So what is so unique about network marketing in this respect? Doesn't every entrepreneur have to deal with challenges? The answer of course is: Yes, they do. And they also experience personal growth as a result from this. However there is a significant difference. Most entrepreneurs are self made and many of them learned their trade largely outside of formal education. Either they were taught by a family member, a mentor or perhaps they learned everything the hard way: by trial and error. Very rarely will you find an entrepreneur that has an extensive library of books and tapes on personal development. Most businesspeople don't attend seminars and motivational trainings. They think it's all a bunch of hype. While in some cases this can be true, there are many trainings and seminars that teach the principles of success better than any textbook found in business schools.
One of the great things about network marketing is that this type of education is built into the training systems of all good companies. There is no business on the face of the earth that places such a strong and direct emphasis on the importance of personal development as the network marketing industry. Many companies might argue that they spend a great deal of their budget on education; training employees and as such assisting them in personal development but in most cases what they are actually talking about is personnel development. Although the words are almost identical, their meanings are vastly different.
Network marketing is all about building people. It is probably the best school on the planet if you want to learn about what it takes to be successful in life and you don't need rich parents or some kind of scholarship to enroll.

The beauty of being a business owner is that you will eventually come to the point where you can choose to have someone else do a majority of the work for you while you laze around your pool all day (or start another business). For some entrepreneurs, what makes business ownership great is the opportunity to build the business and then hand it over to someone else to manage while continuing to reap the rewards. One of the factors that separates successful businesses from mediocre or poorly performing businesses is the automation factor. Business owners - especially online business owners - should be looking to automate their work. In fact, they should be building that goal into their business plan and infrastructure from day one! Automation is the best "next step" between doing everything yourself and getting someone else to manage it for you. Automation is getting the project or task to complete itself, allowing you to do something else. Automation allows you to have some tasks done without your sweat and labor and frees your time to do other important work. So, how do you automate? Here are a few ideas to help you automate your online business: - Look at the kinds of things you do during the day and try to identify areas that you don't like to work on or areas where you are constantly doing repetitive tasks. Very often, there are already computer programs available that can help you do those tasks such as contact managers, personal information managers and autoresponders. - Automate your schedule. Rather than rewriting your to-do's each day, use a system like Microsoft Outlook to do a lot of the scheduling work for you. - If you sell digital products sites use resources like ClickBank and Paypal. These will allow you to sit back and relax while they do repetitive work such as taking payments and downloading products to your customers. ClickBank also has its own affiliate program built-in so others can sell your products. Merchant account sites like PayPal let you accept payment without any work on your part. Compare that to the non-automated way of phoning in every credit card number... it's a great time saver!! - Your "shopping cart" should be automated and linked to your online inventory. When some places an order, they pay and receive the goods and all you have to do is sit back and spend the money. Does your shopping cart manage your inventory for you? If not, find one that does and use it! Using just a couple of these simple suggestions can save a great amount of time in managing your business. And running your business efficiently means more profit for you. About The Author:-------------------------------------------------- Nial Robbins has a successful Internet business. Creating multiple streams of income is an important factor when considering any type of business. Affiliate marketing is no exception. By creating multiple streams of income it ensures your survival should one source fail for any reason. Having multiple streams of income can be equated to McDonalds serving chicken sandwiches even though they're a burger joint. If you put all your eggs in one basket you're just looking for trouble. Also, as an affiliate it's fairly easy to setup multiple streams of income because there is usually an abundance of different programs with decent products available. Within most niches you'll probably even be able to find products that complement each other instead of competing with each other. This is an excellent way to bolster your affiliate earnings. The first order of business is to get your own web site. Something basic will do as you won't be needing too much web space. There are very inexpensive hosting plans available today, some as cheap as $3.95 a month. Next you'll need a domain name. These are also very inexpensive and can be purchased for under $10 for a whole year. Your domain name is very important. You'll want to try to include the name of the niche you're targeting in the domain name itself if you can and if it's not too long. If you're looking at the dog grooming niche for example you may want a name like "doggroomingtips.com" or "doggroomingsecrets.com" or something similar. The next project on your agenda when attempting to achieve multiple streams of affiliate income should be to create your email capture page. Your capture page should be your top priority. Consider this your sales page even though you won't be selling anything in the true sense of the word. By capturing the name and email address of your prospects before sending them to the merchants site you'll build a list that you can send other offers to whether they purchase from the original merchant or not. It's been said many times by the internet's top marketers, "The money's in the list"! This rings true for affiliate marketers as well as product creators. You can build a list by writing a special report pertaining to the niche you're targeting. Perhaps you can write a review of the product you're promoting or a "top ten" list of reasons to use the product. Offer the report for free so long as your visitor leaves their name and email address. Use a double opt-in autoresponder to protect yourself from unethical folks. After the prospect has confirmed their address send them to the download page of your special report. And a word of advice - Don't just send a download link. By sending them to an HTML web page you can sprinkle in links to different affiliate products. Also, write up 7-10 emails to go out at 2-3 day intervals, each highlighting a different aspect of the main product you're promoting. Then you can add more emails to go out at 7-10 day intervals exposing your readers to different products in the same niche. Explain how these products complement your main product and why your reader would benefit from the purchase. By setting up a few of these simple sites offering an array of special reports in one niche you'll be promoting several different affiliate products within that niche. Find a variety of other profitable niches to target, repeat the above process and soon you'll have a whole network of sites funneling prospects into your sales process. The result -You'll soon have multiple streams of affiliate income in several different niches producing substantial income.
